Thinking About a Place at Fountains High School?
Fountains High School is proud to be part of the Esteem Multi-Academy Trust, offering specialist education for young people aged 11 to 19 with a wide range of learning needs.
We understand that choosing the right school is a big decision, and we’re here to support families every step of the way.
Who We Support
All of our students have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and a diagnosed learning disability. We provide tailored support for young people with:
- Moderate, Severe, or Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties
- Autism Spectrum Condition with additional learning needs
- Communication and interaction challenges
- Social, emotional and mental health needs
- Sensory, physical or medical difficulties
Our aim is to create a safe, inclusive and inspiring environment where every student can thrive.
A Note About Suitability
Although we are a generic special school, there are occasions where we may not be the right setting for a child or young person. Every request for admission is carefully considered by our Senior Leadership Team in partnership with the Local Authority. We always make decisions based on what is in the best interests of the individual child and the wellbeing and learning of our existing students.
We want every child to be in a setting where they can feel safe, supported, and successful — and sometimes that means helping families explore alternative specialist provision that may be better suited to their child’s needs.
How Admissions Work
If your child’s EHCP names Fountains High School as the most suitable setting, our team will work closely with Staffordshire Local Authority to assess whether we can meet your child’s needs.
The admissions process usually involves:
- Your child’s current school identifying their needs and working with their SENCO.
- Support from external professionals.
- A statutory assessment by the Local Authority.
- Issuing or reviewing of the EHCP.
- A formal request for placement, often made during the Annual Review.
We also offer Post-16 education, with places available at our school and through our partnership with Burton and South Derbyshire College.
